The GUGC Sport Ambassador Program recognises and rewards the exceptional sporting achievements, sportsmanship and leadership of Griffith University Gold Coast students.
The program aims to support high-level student athletes in any recognised sport to pursue their chosen sporting career, as well as strengthen GUGC Sport representative teams, through elite athlete participation at Australian University Sport (AUS) events.
By becoming a GUGC Sport Ambassador you will be representing the Griffith University Gold Coast sporting community on campus and beyond. For 2017, the program consists of three tiers to represent a wider variety of high-level sport at GUGC. Gold and Silver Ambassadors will typically represent their country at an international level or compete or coach in a sport funded by the Australian Sports Commission.
An elite sport student is defined as someone who meets the following tiered criteria as an athlete or coach:
Current recipient of a Griffith University Sports Excellence Scholarship, a Griffith University Development Scholarship, or Commonwealth Games Sports Excellence Scholarship.
Griffith Sports College athlete or;
Selected in state squad or equivalent.
Selected in regional squad or equivalent.
All GUGC students who meet the criteria are invited to apply, and we particularly encourage applications from Griffith Sports College members.
Applicants will be required to provide brief personal information and achievements via an online form. Factors including sporting achievement, demonstrated sporting potential, sportsmanship and leadership, international performance, and contribution to community and GUGC sport will be taken into account.
Successful applicants will be notified via email within seven days of application completion and will be required to visit the GUGC Sport office (The Link, G07) for a letter of authorisation, before utilising Uni Fitness facilities for the first time.
Applications open on January 1 and close December 31 of the year the AUS event subsidies will be utilised.
