Northern Unigames is a regional based five day event where Griffith University Gold Coast (GUGC) will compete against rival universities from around Queensland, northern New South Wales and the Northern Territory. Join team GUGC as we battle it out against rival universities such as Bond, QUT and UQ in a range of sports. We even compete against Griffith University Brisbane campuses to prove who really is the best sporting campus!
The event is jam packed with sport during the day and activities for all participants each night. Not only will you have an amazing week, you will also make lifelong friends with your team mates, as well as your competitors.
Pick your sport, attend trials or contact our Sports Officer, and get ready for the best week of your life.
2 – 7 July, 2017
So what do you need to do from here? Follow the steps below to ensure you don’t miss out on being a part of the 2017 Griffith Gold Coast team.
Step 1: Express your interest
Click here to submit your details and our GUGC Sport team will send you key information, dates and reminders.
Step 2: Attend trials for your sport
Our GUGC Sport clubs generally coordinate the teams and trials for Unigames. It’s a good starting point to contact the relevant club via the contact details above and join. Or browse the trial dates above and rock up with your a-game! If you’re not a member of a club, that’s ok! You can still attend the trials. Some sports however don’t have a club on campus and you will need to contact our Sports Officer instead. We will keep continue to update this page as trial dates and information become available – keep checking, or like us on Facebook to stay up-to-date.
Step 3: Read the GUGC Sport Athletes Agreement
You will be representing Griffith University on and off the field for the duration of the Games and therefore must abide by the terms and conditions of the GUGC Sport Athletes Agreement. You will be prompted to accept theses terms and conditions during the registration process below.
Step 4: Register (opens April 2017)
Once you have attended trials, have been selected for a team and have received your team code you are ready to register. If your sport didn’t have trials, you have already contacted our Sports Officer and received your team code, then you are also good to go.
Didn’t make the sport you were hoping for? Don’t worry, we have plenty of spots available – why not try a different sport? Contact our Sports Officer for more information.
Coaches, managers and other non-competing team officials will also need to follow the steps below.
NB: If you choose not to select the package including accommodation provided by GUGC Sport, it is your responsibility to secure alternative accommodation. You will not be permitted to visit the GUGC Sport arranged accommodation venue/s after 6pm each day.
Step 5: Get your uniform sorted
All athletes are required to purchase a GUGC Sport representative uniform for the Games. If you are a member of a GUGC Sport club and already have a uniform for local competition, you may not have to purchase an additional uniform. Contact your relevant club for more information.
Most uniforms can be ordered via the GUGC Sport online store (see below for list of items you will need for your sport) by Friday 9 June, 2017 at the very latest. Failure to do so may result in your uniform not arriving in time.
Still unsure of a few things? Check out our frequently asked questions below or contact our Sports Officer.
