Offer accommodation

Advertise a room or property available for student rental.

The Student Guild operates an accommodation service to help students find suitable accommodation and welcomes listings from accommodation providers. Your listing will be advertised for four weeks on our website. Current, new and prospective students select accommodation suited to their needs and will arrange to meet with you for an inspection directly.

If you are interested in advertising off-campus accommodation, we recommend viewing the Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA) Rooming accommodation agreement as well as the Managing rooming accommodation in Queensland booklet for information and guidelines for renting rooms. The booklet in particular is a worthwhile companion to successfully manage rooming accommodation.

Your listing will be advertised on our website for four weeks and also displayed in a glass-fronted noticeboard located on campus at The Link (G07).

Current, new and prospective students will arrange to meet with you for an inspection by contacting you directly via the details you’ve provided in your ad.

We welcome accommodation ads from Griffith University students as well as members of the larger community.

If you are a Griffith student, our service will provide you with four FREE weeks of advertising. Please note that a student e-mail address must be provided on our advertising form in addition to a copy of your student ID to take advantage of this offer.

The fee for non-students is $10 for four weeks of advertising. Please note that an e-mail address must be provided when completing our advertising form.

Prior to Trimester 1 classes commencing (end of January – end of February), is generally the busiest time of year for students to be searching for accommodation. Peak times begin up to three weeks prior to classes commencing each trimester. Trimester 3 has a limited number of courses running and is generally quieter compared to Trimester 1 and 2.

A rental bond is the security deposit a resident pays at the start of a tenancy. If you collect a deposit for supplying a key, a linen deposit or any other form of deposit, these are considered bond and must be lodged with the RTA. More information on bonds/deposits and payment options can be found on the RTA website.

Current listings are found in the private listings section of our website.

We recommend properties are viewed in person by prospective tenants to encourage face-to-face, local exchanges (even if they claim to be overseas).

We recommend everyone view the Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA) Rooming accommodation agreement to know your rights and responsibilities for renting and sharing accommodation.

We recommend viewing the RTA website for information regarding agreements, bonds, deposits and vacating requirements prior to confirming your stay with any accommodation provider.
