Having been a board member for the past two years, and serving as your president for half of that, I have gained substantial experience in maintaining a genuine connection with my peers in order to be a voice for GUGC students. I strongly believe that every student deserves to be heard and feel as though they come to a university that provides opportunities for fun, support, and success. As a board member, my goal would be to enhance our current wellness initiatives at the Student Guild in order to provide students with a stronger, safer, supportive environment.
Hello, my name is Bianca Thatcher and I am a current first year student, studying a double degree in International Tourism and Hotel Management, and Business. I would very much like to be elected onto the GUGC Student Guild Board as I believe that engaging with opportunities and networking within the university such as clubs, societies and events is extremely important when thinking about life after graduation and your employability. I’d personally love to be one of the students that encourages engagement with enjoyable activities Griffith has to offer other students, to help them on their path to success.
I’m a French and Norwegian master student who moved to Australia 6 months ago. I have experience in student associations and events as I was on the board of the federation of association of my French university and I was elected as Student representative in the Student Life Committee. One of the projects I was responsible for was turning our law building into a nightclub. The event is well known: teachers adapted their timetable because of it. I want to join the Student Guild Board to continue on that track and give students the best time they can get.
My name is Sarah McDonald and I am currently volunteering for the Guild weekly and at events such as Orientation Week. I love the teamwork spirit and meeting other likeminded people and giving back to the community. The Board position would be the perfect opportunity to be even more involved and enforce positive change. Sharing my ideas with other involved people that share my passion for improving and impacting the type of environment we as students will grow in would enable me to grow as a person and master my multitasking skills and my passion for working within a team.
"Sick of lining up for microwaves? Annoyed with that extra charge from not having cash on you? Maybe you want to start a club and think it is confusing? If this sounds like you, then you definitely want to vote for me. Our Student Guild does some amazing things, but let us get more microwaves, NO EFTPOS fees, more clubs and increased support for them. Other issues that you find irritating? Let me know and let's see if we can solve them! A bit about me, I'm currently studying a bachelor of psychology, so I am always keen to help!"
My name is Aneez Anver and I’m an international student from Sri Lanka. I am currently in my second year in Master or Business, majoring in Event Management. My passion and hobby has always been volunteering. I know how dreading university can be with assignments and exams, so I would love to change that and enhance your student experience here at Griffith with the help of Student Guild by being a part of them and make sure you feel at ease. And bonus, I love making new friends! I am looking forward to meeting you and hope to be a
I'm currenlty pursuing a PhD in literature and creative writing and have been a Griffith student on the Gold Coast campus for almost six years. My time at Griffith has not only allowed me to become very familiar with campus facilities and academic resources but has also demonstrated how impactful this role as board member can be and the difference I could make in our students' experience. As a GUSG board member, I would like to foster the current campus environment but I'd also like to bridge the gap between international and domestic students further.
