All Australian universities are entitled to charge a fee for student services and amenities of a non-academic nature. The majority of students enrolled in courses conducted on campus are liable to pay the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF). At Griffith University the fee is collected by the University and a portion of this fee is directed to the Student Guild to support our operations. In 2019 approximately $8 million in SSAF revenue was collected and 37.5% ($3 million) was allocated to the Gold Coast Student Guild.
The SSAF provides the Student Guild with the opportunity to make your university experience as engaging and enjoyable as possible through quality service provision. The fee provides funding for non-academic services including:
- Recreational activities including clubs, societies and campus events
- Sporting activities and facilities
- Student advocacy
- Legal advice
- Financial advice
- Infrastructure for non-academic activities
