Getting started with Vygo

  1. Create a profile
    Download the Vygo mobile app, create a profile and enter your payment details.
  2. Find a tutor
    Once your profile is complete, select whether you’d like a general tutor or help with a specific course. Search for tutors by price, rating and availability. Once you’ve found a potential tutor, message them for more info or request a session.
  3. Book a session
    Tutoring sessions can take place either online or in-person. Once a session is complete, the app will automatically transfer payment from your card to the tutor.

Absolutely! When you’re in the app, click on the ‘Services’ button at the bottom of the screen. There, you’ll be able to choose between course specific tutoring or general tutoring (English, math etc.).

Vygo is a free app that allows tutors to set their own rates. While we recommend that tutors charge a reasonable hourly rate based on their level of academic experience, the decision is ultimately up to them.

No. Vygo provides a free app for both tutors and students. Tutors are paid 100% of whatever rate they charge.

Both the tutor and student will need to ‘begin the session’ in order for a tutoring session to start being tracked. Once the session is complete, both parties must ‘complete the session’.

The Vygo app tracks sessions in 5 minute intervals and will pay the tutor accordingly. For example, if a tutor charges $20 an hour and your session went for 1.5 hours, you will be charged $30. Similarly, if your session went for 30 minutes, you would only be charged $10.

All payment is done through the app and occurs automatically once a session has been completed. The Vygo payment system works in a similar way to that of Uber. No money is physically exchanged between the student and tutor.

Once a tutoring session has been completed, funds will be transferred from your account to the tutor within 1 business day.

No. For the safety of both the tutor and student, all session are required to be held in a public space or online.

Vygo allows you to toggle between student and tutor mode whenever you need. Simply click on the ‘Account’ button at the bottom right of your screen and select which mode you’d like to use.

No. Simply open the Vygo app, click on the ‘Inbox’ icon at the bottom of your screen and click ‘Chat with Vygo’. Let them know what happened and they will be happy to offer assistance to correct the problem.
