Balance
Healthy Habits
Balancing work, study and being social can leave little time for self-care. Carve out some 'me' time in your busy schedule and give some or all of these practices a go.
- #SelfcareSunday - Choose a day, afternoon, hour, or even 10 minutes to slow down, put your phone on do not disturb and meditate, read, journal and unwind to put your mind in a state of calm. Click here for more ideas.
- Get outside - A long day of classes doesn't leave much time for fresh air, so opt to make your study break include a leisurely stroll around the block or plan a nature hike with some mates for a fun weekend activity.
- Use the timer trick - Set a timer for 20 mins and get to work clearing your work space or bedroom of clutter. Clear space = clear mind. If you give yourself more manageable time limits, you are more likely to ride the productivity momentum and get more tasks done.
- Keep a gratitude journal or 'Yay!' list of everything that made you smile that day - Whether it be a funny meme shared by a friend, a delicious lunch between classes or the sunny GC weather - write it down to adopt a more positive mindset.
- Volunteer your time - Studies show that volunteering can improve your sense of belonging and purpose and is a great way to meet new people. Click here to sign up to volunteer with us at the Student Guild.
