Represent Griffith University Gold Coast (GUGC) against universities from Queensland, northern New South Wales and around Australia. The level of competition at intervarsity events ranges from participation-based to top level athletes.

Intervarsity Sport Bowl
Universities from across Queensland and Northern NSW will compete in a one-day tournament to be crowned the 2026 Intervarsity Sport Bowl champion! Hosted by Griffith Sport.

Sport Clubs
Our sport clubs organise and play against other universities in various competitions throughout the year. Become a member today and represent them in their next event!

To support participation of GUGC students, Sport & Health have a community sport opportunity for sporting clubs to submit an application to receive additional funding towards their registration or competition fees outside of affiliation and grant funding.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Sport & Health Community Sport Subsidy GUGC clubs must be:
- Financial members of the student club.
- Currently enrolled and studying at Griffith University Gold Coast.
- Have students play more than 80% of games.
Recognised Competition
A recognised competition is a sporting event that is:
- Recognised by a QLD or AUS governing body.
Requirements
Requirements for clubs to receive the community sport subsidy.
- Players pay for registration in full to the relevant club/SSO, player to maintain proof of purchase.
- Student club applies for subsidy/reimbursement on behalf of its student members.
- Student club receives bulk payment to disperse to students and provide proof of transaction through spreadsheet.
- Submit the application within 30 days post-competition. Applications received outside of this timeframe will not be considered.
- Must send a proof of reimbursement to the Sport and Health Coordinator 10 days after payment has been made.
- Have read and agreed to the Terms and Conditions.
Please note: Clubs can only apply for the subsidy once per season (if a student plays in multiple teams in one season, can only apply for one reimbursement).
Battle of the Border
Get ready to rally your competitive spirit! The Battle of the Border is here, bringing Griffith University Gold Coast (GUGC) students face-to-face with our rivals from Southern Cross University (SCU) in an epic showdown of skill, strength, and team pride. Taking place at the Tallebudgera Recreation Centre on Saturday 18 April 2026, this action-packed event will see students competing in a variety of sports, each team vying for ultimate bragging rights.
Whether you’re playing or cheering, join us for a day of friendly rivalry, high-energy games, and a chance to represent your uni with pride. Let’s see which side will take home the title!
