The Student Guild has a range of unique online volunteering initiatives designed for you to be able to give back to those who need it most while creating a positive change in yourself too.

Cards with Connection

The Student Guild has partnered with Volunteering Gold Coast to introduce Cards with Connection, a program where volunteers create cards filled with messages of kindness and social connection for older Australians and NDIS participants currently in isolation. This initiative aims to spread joy and hope to those most vulnerable in the community and let them know they are not alone.

Long periods of social isolation can have a negative impact on physical, mental and social health, and for older Australians who are unable to connect socially online, this can be a particularly isolating time. Help to brighten someone’s day by getting your craft on and start creating meaningful cards (all levels of artistic ability welcome).

Cards with Connection also aims to bring volunteers together with virtual workshops run by the Wellness Warriors. These workshops are a great opportunity to connect, engage and discuss all things wellbeing related with peers. Volunteers are also invited to create cards at their own leisure.

If you are interested in making a difference and promoting the spirit of community and wellbeing, sign-up to be a Student Guild volunteer today. Once you’ve joined the Student Guild volunteer program, you will gain access to a range of benefits including professional leadership and mental health training, professional development and leadership opportunities, social programs and an amazing community of people!
